Ever wonder how the Music in the Air Concerts are planned, what the inside of a police vehicle looks like, how building permits are approved, or how the City determines which roads will be repaired each year? Have you ever wanted to drive a Zamboni or work a backhoe?

Learn all that and more during the City of Plymouth’s 2026 Citizens Academy!

Citizens Academy will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., starting September 22 and concluding on October 27.

An optional Graduation Night will take place at the Monday, November 2 City Commission Meeting.

During the weekly 2-hour sessions, participants learn about the responsibilities of City departments and the services they provide to the community. Presentations and "behind-the-scenes" facility tours give participants a better understanding of the role local government plays in the quality of life that residents of Plymouth enjoy. Each session is held at a City facility, giving participants a true sense of what it's like to work in local government.
